Richard Seymour Fined $25,000 For Hitting Ben Roethlisberger

The NFL announced a $25,000 fine for Richard Seymour, for his role in his open hand slapping of Ben Roethlisbereger. There has been no mention of a suspension. I believe Roger Goodell withholds the right to suspend players at any time, but I would think that the announcement of just a fine would mean a suspension is unlikely.

It appears that the biggest price paid by Seymour will be his ejection from the contest on Sunday. For this, Seymour apologized to his teammates and said that he let them down. Playing into a relatively small fine and possible lack of a suspension is the fact that Roethlisberger ran up to Seymour, put his hands on him and looked to say something. For his part, Seymour did not say that Roethlisberger said anything to him.

In related news, my "sources" have told me that the league has been flooded with calls from women across the country inquiring as to how they could also pay $25,000 to slap Ben Roethlisberger.
