Athletics Vs. Mariners Final Score: Oakland Completes Sweep With 4-2 Win

The Oakland Athletics responded to being swept by the Los Angeles Angels at home by storming back and sweeping the Seattle Mariners on the road. They completed the three-game sweep of their division rivals on Sunday with a 4-2 victory.

With two outs in the top of the fifth inning, Jonny Gomes blasted his 16th home run of the year. The three-run shot put Oakland on top and proved to be the difference in the game.

The Mariners got one of those runs back in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI triple from Michael Saunders. In the bottom of the sixth, Kyle Seager led off with a home run to cut the Oakland lead to 3-2. The A's didn't let the tight game faze them and tacked on a big insurance run in the top of the ninth, as Josh Donaldson once again led off the inning with a home run.

Tom Milone picked up the win by allowing two runs on eight hits and no walks in six innings of work. Milone struck out 10 Mariners batters as he improved to 12-10.
