The Oakland Athletics are hoping to finish their road series against the Seattle Mariners with a sweep on Sunday, turning to youngster Tommy Milone to get the job done at Safeco Field.
Against the Angels on Sept. 3, Milone (11-10, 3.94) gave up five runs on a season-high-tying 10 hits, lasting just three innings before getting yanked. He is 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA in three career starts against Seattle, tossing seven scoreless innings in his last outing at Safeco back in the end of June.
Seattle will counter with Jason Vargas (14-9, 3.85), who is 3-0 with a 1.87 ERA in his last six home starts. He was solid in his last outing against Boston, holding them to just one run on six hits in seven innings of work en route to a 4-1 win. Vargas is also 3-0 with a 1.78 ERA in his last five starts against Oakland.
Look for George Kottaras to stay hot for the A's, who has two homers and five RBIs in the last two games. He's also 6 of 19 with four homers and 13 RBIs in his last five games.
First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN California and 95.7 The Game.
