Oakland Athletics pitcher Brandon McCarthy remains in critical condition after being struck in the head by a line drive on Wednesday afternoon. McCarthy underwent a two-hour surgery to repair the damage and he was resting comfortably as of Friday morning.
Unfortunately for the 29-year-old pitcher and his family, McCarthy is not out of the woods by any means and is still battling for his life, according to the team trainer. Here is the latest from Oakland:
#Athletics trainer Nick Paparesta says McCarthy is still "absolutely" in a life-threatening situation.

Doctors are still holding out hope for a full recovery, although McCarthy has a long road ahead of him. Everything right now is being taken on an hour-by-hour basis and we can only hope for the best.
