Fresh off a sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Angels, the Oakland Athletics are looking to get back in the win column Friday night against the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field.
The A's will send out rookie phenom A.J. Griffin (4-0, 2.26), who became the first pitcher in Oakland history to begin 4-0 as a starter. He was lights out in his last start, retiring the first 14 batters he faced while allowing just one run with noen route to a 7-1 victory over Boston.
Griffin and the A's will have their hands full with Felix Hernandez (13-6, 2.51 ERA), who suffered his first defeat since June 12 in his last start. He allowed five runs over 7.1 innings in a 5-2 loss to the Angels, but still owns the majors' lowest ERA while going 9-0 with a 1.40 ERA over his last 14 starts.
First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN California and 95.7 The Game.
