Athletics Call Up RHP Dan Straily From Triple-A Sacramento, Will Start Friday

The Oakland A's are adding one of the best arms in all of baseball at the moment as the team announced on Thursday that they have called up RHP Dan Straily from Triple-A Sacramento, who will make his major league debut on Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Straily is 5-2, with a 1.36 ERA in eight games with Sacramento this season, tossing 53 innings for the River Cats. Over that span Straily has amassed 67 strikeouts compared to just 14 walks , along with a very tidy 0.77 WHIP. The 23-year old leads all of professional baseball with 175 strikeouts so far this season.

Straily began the year in Double-A Midland, being selceted as a Texas League All-Star before being promoted to Triple-A on June 21.

The Athletics have not made a corresponding roster move as of yet, though infielder Adam Rosales is also returning to the Green and Gold as well. Straily's addition to the rotation likely means Travis Blackley returning to the bullpen as a long reliever.

Oakland is currently 4.5 games back of Texas in the AL West, but are tied with the Angels atop the AL Wild Card.
