The Oakland Athletics finished up their winning road trip with a shiny new second-place spot in the American League West. While the Los Angeles Angels and Texas Rangers will be duking it out for the next few days, the A's have an opportunity to quietly gain some ground as they return home and host the Tampa Bay Rays for a three-game series.
The Rays are just coming off taking two of three from the Angels, while the A's have taken two of three from the Baltimore Orioles. The A's have been keeping a blistering pace and they're hoping for yet another series win; they haven't dropped a set since the All-Star Break. While the Rays managed to upend the Angels for two games, they did it behind two shutouts. If the A's can score some runs, they can likely get the job done.
