Athletics Vs. Orioles Final Score: Oakland Can't Manage Sweep In 6-1 Loss

The Oakland Athletics entered Sunday in sole possession of second place in the American League West. They attempted to sweep the Baltimore Orioles in order to assure they'd finish the weekend in second place, but they stalled out with a 6-1 loss. Still, another series win is certainly nothing to sneeze at.

Travis Blackley gave up a big inning in the bottom of the third, allowing four runs to the O's on an RBI double from Adam Jones and a home run from Matt Wieters. Baltimore made it 5-0 in the fifth inning on a Wieters RBI groundout.

The A's finally got a run in the top of the sixth on an RBI single from Yoenis Cespedes that went into center field over the glove of a leaping Omar Quintanilla and scoring Jemile Weeks. That would prove to be the only offense that Oakland would manage, although Baltimore got one last insurance run in the bottom of the sixth with a Quintanilla home run.
