The Oakland Athletics continued their fantastic month of play with another victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday. The A's coasted to a 6-1 win to claim the series and have an opportunity to sweep on Sunday.
Yoenis Cespedes blasted a two-run homer in the fourth inning to give the A's a quick 2-0 led. It was the 14th home run of the year for Cespedes. Eric Sogard added to the lead with an RBI single in the fifth. A Chris Carter home run in the sixth scored Cespedes and made it 5-0, while a Cespedes RBI triple in the eighth pushed that lead out to 6-0.
Nick Markakis managed a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth, but that ended up being the last gasp for the Orioles, who managed 10 hits but were 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.
Cespedes was 2-for-3 with three RBI and Jemile Weeks had a three-hit game. Bartolo Colon held the O's scoreless for 5.2 innings, allowing seven hits and no walks.
