Athletics Vs. Rangers Final Score: Bartolo Colon Helps Oakland Shut Out Texas, 2-0

The Oakland Athletics defeated the Texas Rangers on Wednesday by a final score of 2-0. The game featured a gem of a start by Bartolo Colon and ensured the A's would manage at least a series split in the four-game set.

Brandon Inge hit an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning to get the A's on the board. Yoenis Cespedes contributed an RBI single of his own in the bottom of the fourth. Although that finished up the entirety of the scoring, Colon and Brian Fuentes were able to make that hold up just fine.

Colon returned to form after a string of less-than-impressive starts, picking up his fifth win of the season on eight innings of shutout baseball. He struck out five while allowing one walk and five hits. Fuentes pitched a perfect ninth inning for the save and completed the shutout.

Cespedes was 3-for-3 in the game and comprised half of the six A's hits. He was a home run short of hitting for the cycle.

The A's will be attempting to capture the series with a win on Thursday afternoon.
