The good news for the Oakland Athletics after losing to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday is that it was the closest game of the three they played at Chase Field. They were swept after dropping Sunday's finale by a final score of 4-3.
The Diamondbacks jumped on top right away as they plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning against starter Travis Blackley. Chris Young scored on a fielding error and Aaron Hill followed up with a two-run RBI single.
The A's finally got on the board in the top of the fourth, as Brandon Inge and Josh Donaldson each had RBI hits to cut the lead to 3-2. Jason Kubel drove in the fourth Arizona run in the bottom of the fifth with a two-out RBI single. Seth Smith drove in Oakland's final run in the top of the seventh, but despite out-hitting the D-backs nine to six, the A's took the loss.
