Athletics Vs. Angels Final Score: Oakland Falls 3-1 In 11 Innings

The Oakland Athletics did their best on Wednesday, but a clutch two-out hit from the Los Angeles Angels in the 11th inning led to a 3-1 defeat and a series loss.

Maicer Izturis hit an RBI single in the top of the third inning to drive in Alberto Callaspoand take a 1-0 lead. The Angels managed to hold on for a few innings, but in the bottom of the sixth inning, Seth Smith managed to hit a home run to straightaway center field to tie things up.

The two bullpens duked out out into extra innings. In the top of the 11th, the Angels got runners on the corners with two out and Callaspo managed to drive in Peter Bourjos and Howie Kendrick with a two-run double down the left-field line.

Ernesto Frieri came in to close things out for the Angels, striking out Jemile Weeks and Coco Crisp, then walking Josh Reddick before striking out Smith to lock up the win for the Angels.

Oakland starting pitcher Jarrod Parker was great for the A's, allowing just five hits, a walk and one run over seven innings of work, while striking out eight. Unfortunately, Jered Weaver and the Angels bullpen were even better, limiting the A's to just three hits over the course of the game.
