Athletics Vs. Orioles, Game 1 Final Score: Oakland Wins 5-2 In Baltimore

On Friday, the Oakland Athletics stretched their winning streak to three games as they defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 5-2. The A's will try to pick up their second straight series win over the weekend as they deal with the surprisingly formidable O's.

The Orioles scored in the bottom of the first inning on a Nick Markakis sacrifice fly, but that 1-0 score would be the last time the home team would have the lead. The A's scored three times in the top of the second, on a Kurt Suzuki RBI double and an Eric Sogard home run. That inning would prove to be the difference.

Josh Reddick had a solo home run of his own in the top of the sixth inning to stretch the score to 4-1. Adam Jones picked up an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth, but that would be the last time the O's would score in the game. Reddick added an RBI single of his own in the eighth inning for another insurance run.

Brandon McCarthy picked up his first win of the year after going seven innings, giving up two runs on five hits and three walks, striking out four. Grant Balfour picked up his sixth save of the 2012 season.
