Oakland Athletics Tie Chicago Cubs 5-5 After Late Rally

The Oakland Athletics trailed for most of Tuesday's game with the Chicago Cubs, but a late rally tied the game up and eventually had the contest called after 10 innings. Brandon McCarthy made the start for the A's and worked four innings. The soon-to-be Opening Day starter allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks. He struck out just one batter.

Kila Ka'aihue belted his third home run of Spring Training in the eighth inning, while recently-signed outfielder Jonny Gomes hit a three-run homer in the ninth to tie the game, his second of the spring. Star outfield prospect Yoenis Cespedes went 2-for-5 on the afternoon with a strikeout.

Rodrigo Lopez worked five innings for the Cubs and pitched very well, holding Oakland to one run over five innings. He allowed just four hits and a walk. Tony Campana roped out four hits and stole his second base of the spring.

The A's are now 14-4-1 in Spring Training.
