A's Spring Training: Intrasquad Game Thursday, Cactus League Opener Friday

As Oakland Athletics Spring Training is really starting to ramp up, A's beat writer Susan Slusser has some tasty tidbits on the team's intrasquad game this Thursday, and some insight on the lineup for Friday's Cactus League opener as well.

First off, the A's will use two 10-man rosters with four total DH's for their simulated intrasquad game Thursday, with the lineups as follows:

"Visitor" - Sogard 2b, Timmons 3b, Pridie rf, Carter 1b, Powell c, Green cf, Hunter lf, Fiorentino dh, Ortiz dh, Ladendorf ss.

"Home" - Cowgill cf, Moss lf, Taylor rf, Ka'aihue 1b, Donaldson 3b, Recker c, Choice dh, Norris dh, Horton 2b, Cabrera ss.

They had to borrow a few bodies from the minor league side in Josh Horton, Yordy Cabrera and Tyler Ladendorf, though Slusser expects a number of guys to take part in the game tomorrow, including Manny Ramirez, Kurt Suzuki, Jemile Weeks, Coco Crisp, Jonny Gomes and a few others.

Bob Melvin noted that the lineup tomorrow will be similar to that of opening day, aside from things like Manny as the DH (50 game suspension) and the assumption that Yoenis Cespedes will play opening day.

Melvin also noted that Daric Barton won't be taking part due to a recent cortisone shot in his shoulder, but could possibly DH Monday in a split-squad game.

Tomorrow's game can be found as a streaming webcast from the A's official site, and the weekend games will air on 95.7 FM The GAME with Vince Cotroneo and Ray Fosse on the mic.
