Oscar Winners 2012: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Hugo Claim Film Editing, Sound Mixing Academy Awards

Editor's Note: Head to our Moneyball stream for winners in all six categories.

The 2012 Academy Awards are officially underway and "Moneyball" came up short in its first two categories. The movie was nominated for its Film Editing but came up short as "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" took home the Oscar. The other nominees were "The Artist", "The Descendants" and "Hugo." It was also nominated for Sound Mixing and came up short as "Hugo" took home that Oscar. The other nominees were "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" and "War Horse."

"Moneyball" is up for six awards Sunday evening. Aside from film editing and sound mixing, the move is nominated for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Adapted Screen Play. It is the first baseball movie since Field of Dreams to be nominated for Best Picture. "Moneyball" is the first sports movie in some time to achieve such critical acclaim. Although it has come up short in many of the award ceremonies, it really does fit the often cliched "it's an honor to just be nominated."
