SAG Award Winners 2012: Jean Dujardin Beats Out Brad Pitt, George Clooney For Best Actor

The SAG Awards are coming down the home stretch as they handed out the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role. Jean Dujardin sprung a bit of an upset as he took home the award over the likes of George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Clooney was the favorite to take home his first SAG award sitting at 4/7 odds. Pitt was behind him at 11/2 and Dujardin was next at 13/2. The Dujardin victory is notable in part because the last seven Best Actor SAG winners claimed the Best Actor trophy at the Academy Awards in late February.

Pitt has received loads of critical acclaim for his performance as Oakland A's GM Billy Beane. He has been nominated in just about every notable awards show, but he has come up short each time. This year features a strong class of performances including Dujardin in The Artist and Clooney in The Descendants.

The SAG awards represent the halfway point of the award season as we move closer to the Oscars, which take place on February 26. The SAG Awards nominees were chosen by separate film and television nominating committees, each consisting of 2,100 SAG members from around the country, randomly selected a new each year. The SAG Awards are the only industry honors conferred solely by actors' peers.
