Golden Globe Awards Winners 2012: George Clooney Takes Home Best Actor In A Motion Picture Drama

The Golden Globe Awards are fast coming to an end and Moneyball is looking like it might strike out for the evening. Lead actor Brad Pitt lost out to George Clooney for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama, joining Jonah Hill, Aaron Sorkin and Steven Zaillian having lost this evening. The movie is up for best picture and is an underdog in that as well.

The Best Actor loss was not surprising as George Clooney was a heavy favorite to win. At Paddy Power and Sky Bet he was a 1/4 favorite. Brad Pitt was second in the odds between 5-to-1 and 9-to-2. As we move towards the Oscars next month, Clooney will likely emerge as a potential favorite when the nominations come out in nine days. Pitt continues to get critical acclaim for his role as Billy Beane, but it likely is not going to result in a lot of hardware over the next month.

Moneyball has been nominated for four awards total including Best Picture, Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama, Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture Drama and Best Motion Picture screenplay.
