Dan Johnson was once a promising first baseman for the Oakland Athletics. He hit .275, knocking in 58 RBIs and 15 home runs in his first season with the club in 2005. But then he struggled his next two seasons. Johnson hit badly, was demoted, had some vision issues, brought back up, then hit even worse, then was eventually designated for assignment.
↵Johnson's stints with the Tampa Bay Rays haven't gone much better. Less than optimal hitting. Well, practically no hitting (Johnson was around .230 to .270 in Oakland, and he was under .200 in his time with the Rays). So in general, Johnson's time in Major League Baseball has not gone as well as he would have liked.
↵Okay. They've kind of gone a little bit better. Because of this. And because of Wednesday night.
↵He might've only hit the ball two times while he was in Tampa, but he sure picked some great times to hit that ball.
