Moneyball To Premiere Monday Night At Oakland's Paramount Theater

The world premiere of Moneyball is set for Monday night September 19 at Oakland’s Paramount Theater. The movie has been in the works for years and was originally optioned not too long after its May 2003 publication. The book raised eyebrows in the media and among baseball “traditionalists” who were not pleased with its take on traditional scouting methods.

The Monday premiere of the movie is a rare Oakland movie premiere, but there really isn’t a more appropriate location for this movie. The movie focuses on Billy Beane and the methods he used to change baseball, but it’s impossible not to think of this as an Oakland Athletics movie. The movie shot numerous scenes at the Oakland Coliseum and rebuilt much of the interior offices at a set.

Fittingly enough, tonight’s world premiere will feature a green carpet with stars from the movie and notable A’s personalities making the famed walk down the carpet starting at 5:00pm pacific. The event will also be utilized as a benefit for organizations treating and raising awareness about pediatric cancer. If you can get down to the Paramount Theater by 5:00pm I highly recommend making the trip.
