SportsRadio 95.7 FM Becomes 95.7 The Game August 1

Effective 6:00 am August 1, 95.7 changed its branding from SportsRadio 95.7 to 95.7 The Game. The station is the largest market FM sports station in the country and as the flagship station for the Oakland Athletics, it is the only FM flagship station for Major League Baseball in California. You can learn more about 95.7 at their new website. The channel is meant to be a primary competitor of KNBR, which has dominated sports talk radio in the Bay Area since switching to all sports in 1990.

Although 95.7 has been all sports for several months now, this re-launch is meant to create additional promotional buzz for the station. They have added a host of talent to man their station from 6:00am to 10:00pm. Their weekday schedule is as follows:

  • 6:00am-10:00am: The Rise Guys: Whitey Gleason, Mark Kreidler, and Dan Dibley
  • 10:00am-2:00pm: The Wheelhouse with John Lund
  • 2:00pm-6:00pm: The Drive: Brandon Tierney and San Francisco 49ers Radio Color Analyst Eric Davis
  • 6:00pm-10:00pm: The Chris Townsend Show

The station will also have a host of insiders for all of the major sports. Mychael Urban will report on Giants baseball through the remainder of the season. Matt Maiocco will report on 49ers football and stadium issues throughout the 2011 season. Matt Steinmetz will report on Warriors basketball and the NBA lockout. Brodie Brazil will report on Sharks hockey this season. Finally, John "JD" Dickinson will be reporting on A's baseball and Raiders football.
