Athletics vs. Mariners: Trevor Cahill, Felix Hernandez Meet In Rematch Of Season Opener

The Oakland Athletics meet the Seattle Mariners Tuesday night in the second game of a three game series at O.Co Coliseum. The game features a rematch of opening night when Felix Hernandez and Trevor Cahill squared off. Hernandez threw a complete game to get the 6-2 victory while Cahill left after giving up one run on four hits and four walks over 4 2/3 innings.

The A’s look to bounce back after a tough 2-1 loss Monday afternoon. While Mariners phenom Michael Pineda left after six innings, he was able to control the A’s sufficiently. Brandon McCarthy started strong but with little margin for error he suffered the tough-luck loss.

Chris Carter heads back to the bench as he has struggled at the plate. Conor Jackson takes his place at first and Ryan Sweeney will move out to left field. David DeJesus remains in right field as he looks to develop some more consistent at bats. In his career against Hernandez, DeJesus is 10-for-29 (.345) with one home run, two walks and three strikeouts.
