Athletics vs. Mets, Starting Lineups: Jemile Weeks Remains In Starting Lineup

The Oakland Athletics look to win their seventh straight game Wednesday night as they face the New York Mets in the middle game of their three game series. The most notable decision in Wednesday’s lineup is that Mark Ellis is on the bench his first day since being activated off the disabled list.

Nobody really knows what the A’s are going to do with Ellis short term or long term. He’s a free agent after this season and Jemile Weeks is proving to be the second baseman of the future. Ellis has been a leader of this team and an outstanding defensive second baseman, but his bat has gone in the tank this season. In the meantime, Weeks and Scott Sizemore have both been playing some great offensive baseball and solid defense. As long as the A’s keep winning it’s hard to justify removing either of them from the starting lineup.
