MLB Standings Update: A's Slowly Climbing Back Into AL West Race

The Oakland Athletics head into New York to face the Mets hoping to continue their mini-surge back into the AL West race. The A's swept the Giants this past weekend and were able to gain a game on the Rangers who took two of three from the Braves. The Rangers will be hosting the Astros and then the Mets this week before heading to Houston over the weekend.

The AL West has not seen a lot of change since last week and the A's continue to hang around thanks to the fairly average play of the division. This week's road trip through the NL West is a tough six games for Oakland and they'll need to maintain the fire that got them their last five wins. I doubt MLB will allow the A's to continue with the gold jerseys on the road, but I wouldn't be surprised if the team inquired about wearing them given their streak with the jerseys.

Over the next three days, while Oakland is in New York, the Rangers will be playing Houston, the Mariners travels to face the Nationals, and the Angels play Florida.
