Giants vs. Athletics, Bay Bridge Series 2011: A's Top Giants 4-2, Win Series

As the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s began their second meeting of the Bay Bridge Series at the Oakland Coliseum, it was starting to look like a pitcher’s duel. But then came the fifth inning where the A’s took control, scoring all their runs for a 4-2 victory clenching the series.

Jonathan Sanchez (L 4-5) was cruising until the fifth inning rolled around, allowing all of the A’s four runs on four hits, including doubles by Chad Pennington and Daric Barton. Sanchez finished his night after that with 91 pitches in four and 2/3 innings of work along with three walks and three strikeouts.

Guillermo Moscoso also pitched four and 2/3 innings, allowing no earned runs and only three hits, along with three walks and one strikeout. But it was Brad Ziegler (W 2-0) getting the win for the A’s tonight with his relief appearance in the fifth, clinching the second installment of the Bay Bridge series of 2011.

Hideki Matsui and Nate Schierholtz were the only players for either team to have more than one hit, both finishing the night 2-4.
