The Oakland Athletics wrap up their three-game series with the New York Yankees looking to grab at least one game in a rivalry that has been quite one-sided in recent years. The A’s send out Gio Gonzalez who will look to win his sixth game of the season as he faces A.J. Burnett.
The A’s have made a small shake-up in their lineup the last couple days as Daric Barton has basically been benched for a few days. He’s sitting his second straight game as he looks to figure out what has caused his horrific start in 2011. Conor Jackson makes the start in his place and will hit third. Given the struggles up and down the lineup, this might qualify as the A’s best lineup right now. DeJesus is starting to hit with authority and Ryan Sweeney is performing quite well against right -handed pitching. Maybe the A’s can get something going in the short term while Barton and Hideki Matsui try to straighten out their struggles.
