Kurt Suzuki scored on an error in the sixth inning, and it was enough for the A's to get the win over the Twins. That's probably going to be a trend for Oakland, the pitching staff will have to keep them in games, and you'll probably see quite a few games with 1-0, 2-0, 2-1 scores for the A's this year.
Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Gio Gonzalez and two relievers combined on a five-hit shutout and Oakland scored the game's lone run on an error in the sixth inning to beat the Twins at Target Field.
Gonzalez (2-0) allowed four hits and a pair of walks while fanning four over six innings. His ERA dipped to 0.69 through two starts this season. Grant Balfour yielded one hit over 1 1/3 innings and Brian Fuentes threw the final 1 2/3 innings for his second save.
Nick Blackburn (1-1) gave up five hits and the unearned run in six innings pitched.
