Athletics Ride Balanced Effort In 5-0 Defeat Of Cliff Lee And The Rangers

The Oakland Athletics kept alive their faint playoff hopes for another day with a 5-0 defeat of the Texas Rangers. Dallas Braden and Brad Ziegler combined to throw a one hit, two walk shutout of the Rangers. The Rangers entered the game with a magic number of four to clinch the AL West. The win leaves the A's seven games out of first place with ten games remaining in the season.

The A's received a rare balanced offensive attack getting RBIs from Jack Cust, Chris Carter, Matt Carson and Steve Tolleson. The A's will look to continue that tomorrow as they send out rookie Bobby Cramer who will look to win his third consecutive major league start.
