The Sacramento Kings held off the Phoenix Suns in their first preseason game, using a nice stretch in the second half to open up a double-digit lead and stay on top for a 102-96 win.
The top performer for Sacramento was DeMarcus Cousins, who overcame a bad shooting night (5-of-15 from the field) to score 21 points. He was 10-of-13 from the free-throw line and grabbed nine rebounds. Thomas Robinson added 12 points and eight rebounds off the bench in his Kings debut, and Marcus Thornton and Jimmer Fredette both chipped in 10 points.
The Suns were led by Wesley Johnson with 18 points and Markieff Morris with 16 points
