Golden State Warriors Indeed Interested in Brandon Roy, Per Report

Golden State general manager Bob Myers said Friday that the Warriors do indeed have interest in former Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy, who is currently training to play in 2012-13, and has stated his desire to do so.

"It's a possibility." Myers noted when asked if Roy could be in the Warriors' plans. "He's an easy phone call to make."

"I told (Roy) when he was amnesty-ed ... ‘I hope this isn't it for you. Make sure this isn't it. He's said publicly he wants to come back, so I'll start to talk to him. It depends how everything goes for us and what his expectations are and all of that. But absolutely I'll talk to him."

Roy was the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2006-07 and was named to the league's All-Star game three times. Per Yahoo! and, Roy announced via twitter that he was making a comeback. "Lord willing, I will play again soon," he said. "Yes, I'm preparing for a comeback. I'm training daily. I'm preparing for a return next year. I appreciate the love. Hopefully I'll be back on the floor soon. Health is good."

Roy was waived with an amnesty clause from the Portland Trail Blazers last December and under NBA rules, would not be eligible to return to the Blazers until his initial contract is up, in 2014-15. He can, however, play for Golden State, if they follow up on their interest.
