2012 NBA Draft Rumors: Warriors Deal With Jazz Unlikely

The Golden State Warriors are trying to ensure they have a lottery pick, but there is a decent probability they could fall out of the top seven. There's a 26% chance the Warriors fall down from their No. 7 pick status, which would hand over the pick to the Utah Jazz because of the deal they made with Marcus Williams back in 2008.

Seems like a pretty remote possibility compared to the 74% chance Golden State stays at their spot or moves up. However, the Warriors have never moved up from the seventh pick in the past 14 times they've hit the lottery, so there's reason to be apprehensive going into tonight's draft. Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle has this to report.

Warriors general manager Bob Myers said Wednesday morning that its "highly unlikely" that he’ll be able to swing a deal with Utah to keep the 2012 lottery pick, regardless of conditions. The Warriors and Jazz had been discussing a deal that would remove this season’s stipulations.
