Monta Ellis Trade Rumors: Brook Lopez Deal For Warriors Guard Not Happening

Golden State Warriors guard Monta Ellis has been shopped around, but it's not likely that he'll end up being dealt. He's too valuable to the current team to be moved for any regular packages. Golden State must get equal value of some sort, or at least get someone who really fills in a need for the team.

A big man is quite possible. New Jersey Nets big man Brook Lopez is one of the guys under consideration. Lopez would give the Warriors a solid post man who would provide quality depth inside along with current forward David Lee. But it's not looking like that trade will be available to them.

It might be in the best interest of the Warriors to not make the deal anyway. Lopez is a solid post player, but he's not a great rebounder for a big, and it doesn't really solve any issues that Golden State has (and in fact could make the team worse). Perhaps Lopez also wants to be kept around to help make the Nets a more attractive destination for Dwight Howard when he becomes a free agent this offseason.
