Warriors v. Grizzlies, NBA Schedule Preview: Warriors in Memphis Trying to Slow Down the Grizzlies

After a disappointing overtime loss last night in Oklahoma City, the Golden State Warriors are in Memphis tonight to take on the Grizzlies on the second night of a back-to-back at the Fedex Forum in the Bluff City. The Warriors now only have 7 more games in their season, so they’re running out of time to get some moral victories, while the Grizzlies are fighting to keep their playoff spot.

The last time these two teams met, the Warriors took the loss 116-111, where Andris Biedrins dropped 28 points and 21 boards (I almost forgot he could produce a stat line line that), but the W’s will be without him for the rest of the season. The Grizzlies have had their own injury problems as of late as Rudy Gay is out with a season ending shoulder injury, but that hasn’t stopped the Grizz from winning four out of their last five games. Memphis is trying to keep a two game cushion between them and the Houston Rockets for the 8th playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Despite the close loss last night, the Warriors have been showing some serious heart lately, especially last night when they were down by 6 with 15 seconds to play and tied the game up with two three pointers by Reggie Williams and Monta Ellis. Ellis has averaged double figures in assists his last 3 games, David Lee has had a double-double the last three games, Steph Curry balled out for 35 last night, and Dorell Wright has been getting it in too. Love to watch the Warriors play like they have lately, but still wonder why they don’t play like this all the time.

Coverage will begin at 5:00 p.m. and can be seen on CSN Bay Area and heard on KTCT 1050 AM.
