Warriors v. Spurs, NBA Scores: Spurs Win 111-96, Make it Five Straight Losses for Warriors

As the end of the Golden State Warriors season draws to a close, so do the hopes of finishing the season at .500. as the San Antonio Spurs beat the W’s handedly by a score of 111-96. With just 11 games left in the season and now standing 11 games under .500 at 30-41, the Warriors would have to win the rest of their games to break even, an almost certain impossibility for any NBA team in 11 games.

Ekpe Udoh lead all scorers (yes that’s not a typo) with 15 points as well as 7 boards, Dorell Wright and Acie Law both added 14, while Monta Ellis had 10 on 4-13 shooting. Stephen Curry only played 20 minutes total tonight, finishing the game with 8 points and 2 assists. This is just a head scratcher for me, especially since the issue of Curry’s playing time will play a factor in the probable firing of Keith Smart. The Warriors out rebounded the Spurs 45-42 but also had 17 turnovers to San Antonio’s 11.

As for the Spurs Manu Ginobli lead the way with 28 points on 9-18 shooting, with Tony Parker adding 17 and Richard Jefferson 12. Tim Duncan rolled his ankle early in the game and did not return, finishing the night with 4 points in 4 minutes. San Antonio outscored the W’s in the paint 48-34 and shot 49% from the floor as a team.

Next up for Golden State is the last of the Texas trifecta, the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. with coverage on CSN Bay Area ans well as KNBR 680.
