The Golden State Warriors have made an official offer to Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan, according to the official NBA website.
The 6'11" Jordan is a restricted free agent, so the Warriors are not allowed to sign him outright. Jordan has signed to an offer sheet and the Clippers are allowed three days to match Golden State's offer. If they decline to do so, the deal will become official. The Associated Press via the Washington Post has the specifics of the offer, which is said to be $42.7M over four years. The recent moves by the Warriors to waive Jeremy Lin and invoke an amnesty clause on Charlie Bell allowed the team to free up the money needed to make the offer to Jordan.
Tom Ziller of SB Nation noted on Saturday that Jordan was offered a five-year, $40M contract by Los Angeles which he turned down. As a result of pursuing free agency, his average annual salary will be $2M higher. Jordan's 2011-2012 salary would figure to be between $9M and $10M. There is no indication as of yet whether the Clippers will attempt to match the offer.
Jordan averaged 7.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.78 blocks over 80 games last season.
