Barry Zito not giving Giants a choice on postseason roster

San Francisco Giants pitcher Barry Zito's play on the field lately has likely earned him a spot in the team's postseason rotation, according to a report on CSNBayArea.com.

Zito is 14-8 this season and boasts and ERA of 4.19, but it's his most recent reults on the mound that's impressed manager Bruce Bochy the most. The Giants, who have already clinched the NL West and hold a 10-game lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers, have won the last 10 games in which Zito took the mound.

"These are things we're discussing. They're tough decisions. It's great to have these hard choices ahead of us," Bochy told CSNBayArea.com. "Guys are throwing the ball well, and I'm talking about all five starters. It's a nice luxury to have. That will be decided in the last couple games. [Zito] is a guy that we have so much confidence in, just like all of them. We'll talk about it. We still have some time."

The Giants will likely go with Matt Cain, Tim Lincecum and Madison Baumgarner as their first three starters in the playoffs, but Zito could likely beat out Ryan Vogelsong for the fourth spot in the rotation.
