San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy has named Matt Cain and Madison Bumgarner his starters for game one and two of the NLDS at AT&T Park, but is still yet to finalize who'll be taking the bump in game three in Cincinnati, according to CSN Bay Area's Andrew Baggarly.
After Cain and Bumgarner that leaves Tim Lincecum, Ryan Vogelsong or Barry Zito for game three, and Bochy isn't adverse to bringing any of them out of his bullpen in this best-of-five series.
"We want to keep our options open for games three, four and five," Bochy said. "We may have to switch the order, so instead of setting it right now, we just decided to announce Game 1 and Game 2."
Zito, who has six relief appearances in his Giants career, said he is game to do whatever asked of him.
"We're all flexible here; we've all shown that we can pitch in various roles," said Zito, who has allowed five runs in six innings as a reliever. "If I'm on a mound, I'm on a mound and I look forward to that."
Lincecum has better on the road than at home this year while Vogelsong's last two outings were scoreless and seems to have righted his ship at the right time. Whoever gets the start in game three, they will likely be backed up by another starter out of the bullpen.
Game one of the NLDS is Saturday at 6:37 p.m. PT with coverage on the Fox Network.
