The Detroit Tigers look to recover from a Game 1 loss against the San Francisco Giants and tie the series up tonight in Game 2 of the World Series.
The Giants won Game 1 over the Tigers 8-3. Pablo Sandoval had four hits in four at-bats, including tying a World Series record with three home runs in one game. Sandoval had three home runs in his first three at-bats, including two off of Justin Verlander. Verlander was chased after four innings of work, giving up six hits, five earned runs, and the crucial three homers. Barry Zito was effective in earning the victory, going five and two-thirds of an inning and allowing only one run.
In Game 2, it'll be Doug Fister trying to help the Tigers tie the series up before both teams head back to Detroit. Fister has a 1.35 ERA overall this postseason, but hasn't received a decision yet. Fister will be going up against Madison Bumgarner, who has been far less effective in posting an 11.25 ERA with an 0-2 record this postseason.
