Giants vs. Cardinals, NLCS Game 6 score: Giants take 5-0 lead in second inning

The San Francisco Giants rallied for four runs in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead over the St. Louis Cardinals. With the Giants facing elimination on Sunday night, the early lead for Ryan Vogelsong could be huge for their chances to advance.

Buster Posey grounded out in the first inning to plate the game's first run off Chris Carpenter.

In the second, Vogelsong grounded weakly to shortstop Peter Kozma with runners on the corners. The rookie shortstop could not make a play on the ball, allowing a run to score. Marco Scutaro then doubled to make it 4-0, and Pablo Sandoval's seeing-eye single up the middle added another San Francisco run.

The Cardinals got their bullpen working as Carpenter struggled in the second inning. It seems likely he has thrown his final pitch of the day.

St. Louis is about to begin hitting in the top of the third.
