After the pitching performance of a lifetime from Barry Zito, the San Francisco Giants head back to the Bay Area to continue the National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Ryan Vogelsong will take the mound for Game 6, facing Chris Carpenter for St. Louis.
Vogelson is 1-0 in two postseason starts, both wins for San Francisco. He started Game 3 of the NLDS, putting in five innings and striking out five while giving up one run on three hits. His other start was Game 2 against St. Louis, where he went seven innings and gave up one run on four hits in the 7-1 Giants win. His only regular season start against St. Louis was a 15-0 San Francisco win where he gave up only three hits and no runs through seven innings. Carpenter was also pitching in Game 2 of the NLCS, giving up five runs on six hits over four innings.
Should the Giants force Game 7, Matt Cain would pitch, facing Kyle Lohse for the Cardinals.
First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. PT, with television coverage provided by FOX.
