NLCS Game 4, Giants vs. Cardinals score: Tim Lincecum roughed up, St. Louis leads 2-0

Things have not started well for the San Francisco Giants against the St. Louis Cardinals, as they trail 2-0 after the first inning. The night got off disastrously for Tim Lincecum, who made his first postseason start after making several successful bullpen appearances.

In the bottom of the first, center fielder Jon Jay started with a single off Lincecum to center field, and then first baseman Matt Carpenter drew a walk. Matt Holliday then singled in Jay and allowed Carpenter to advance to third base to give St. Louis a 1-0 lead. Then Allen Craig hit a loud out to center field that Angel Pagan barely snared, allowing Carpenter to come home. Lincecum gave up another hit but escaped the inning without further damage.

The Giants went down in order to start their night in the top of the first inning. Angel Pagan grounded out to shortstop, Marco Scutaro flied out to right, and Buster Posey flied out to center field.
