Giants vs. Cardinals: NLCS Game 3 in rain delay, San Francisco trails 3-1

Game 3 of the NLCS between the San Francisco Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium is in a rain delay, according to CSN Bay Area's Andrew Baggarly.

The official scorer announced that Giants starter Matt Cain has been replaced by Javier Lopez. The umpires then made it clear to the scorer that because of the delay, Lopez will not be required to face a batter.

The Giants struck first in the top of the third inning when Pablo Sandoval grounded out to the shortstop, scoring Angel Pagan from third base on a fielder's choice. The Cardinals answered right back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the same frame on Matt Carpenter's two-run homer off Cain.

St. Louis added another run in the bottom of the seventh when Shane Robinson grounded out to second on a fielder's choice to leave the score as it stands currently.
