The San Francisco Giants will head to Great American Ballpark to take on the Cincinnati Reds in the deciding game of the NLDS behind the arm of right-hander Matt Cain. Facing him will be Reds pitcher Mat Latos.
All eyes in this deciding contest will be on the pitching matchup, and for good reason. Cain was stellar during the regular season, posting a 2.79 ERA and a 16-5 record. Latos was nearly as effective, going 14-4 with a 3.48 ERA. It will be the first career postseason start for Latos, and calming down the still warm bats of the Giants might prove to be a challenge.
Cain had a difficult time against the Reds in his first start in Game 1. He allowed five hits and three earned runs and lost the decision. But under the circumstances, he'll be called upon again. The Reds' roster is hitting .260 /.323 / .461 vs. Cain in 2012, and those numbers include the postseason.
The first pitch is scheduled for 10:07 a.m. PT and will air on TBS.
