It took the Giants an extra inning but they finally got their first win of the playoffs on Tuesday night. Now they will hand the ball off to Barry Zito to try and even the series against the Cincinnati Reds.
The biggest question going in is which pitcher will start for the Reds in Game 4 after Johnny Cueto exited Game 1 with an oblique strain. Cueto lasted eight pitches before having to be pulled and Coach Dusty Baker hadn't made the call as of Tuesday night. He has indicated it is a decision between Matt Latos and Mike Leake. Latos pitched 57 pitchers in Game 1 after Cueto's injury forced Baker to scramble.
Zito makes his first postseason start in a Giants uniform. He was left off all three playoff rosters when the Giants won the World Series in 2010. He has had good results in seven games in the playoffs (all with the Oakland Athletics), going 4-3 with a 3.25 ERA and 33 strikeouts. Zito finished the season on a stellar hot streak. He hasn't lost a game since Aug. 2 and won his final five starts of the regular season.
First pitch of Game 4 is scheduled for 1:07 PT, 4:07 ET. The game will be televised nationally on TBS.
