Cal Vs. Southern Utah: California Golden Blogs Reaction

The California Golden Bears had to forget about Nevada. Yes, it was disappointing but it was over and they had to move on. And yet, they still had to explode for 30 points in the 4th quarter to survive and win 50-31 over Southern Utah.

As California Golden Blogs points out, the Bears dominated the game statistically, outgaining Southern Utah 518 to 371 for the game. But turnovers, penalties and mental errors made the game closer than it should have been. The early season is always ripe for upsets because teams are more inclined to have mental lapses as they get into the rhythm of the season. Cal would have had an embarrassing loss on its hands if not for that late offensive explosion.

Twelve penalties for 106 yards and three fumbles (losing one) will not get it done when the big boys in the Pac-12 are on the other side. But it's still a win and Cal can learn from this. California Golden Blogs will be watching.
