It makes sense that the California Golden Bears would try and lock up their most successful college basketball coach in decades. Mike Montgomery is headed back for two more years which will keep him at Cal at least for four seasons.

Through his four years at Cal, Montgomery has issued an 88-47 record, including a 47-25 record in the Pac-12 and three NCAA Tournament appearances. Monty's teams have finished 3rd, 4th, 2nd, and 1st, with the first place finish being Cal's first Pac-10 championship in college basketball in nearly five decades. Montgomery is probably most famous for his tenure at Stanford, where he led the Cardinal to a 393-167 record, four conference championships, and a Final Four, two Elite Eight and three Sweet 16 appearances.
Montgomery is getting up there in age, and will finish his contract up just shy of theage of 70.
