AP NCAA Basketball All-Americans were announced today, and the Bay Area managed two representatives: Jorge Guteirrez of the California Golden Bears and Matthew Dellavedova of the St. Mary's (Calif.) Gaels, both of whom concluded outstanding all-around seasons in their conferences.
Gutierrez was the Pac-12 Player of the Year and the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year this season. Gutierrez ranks second in scoring and third in rebounding among his teammates. He has been Cal's defensive stalwart and leads the team in steals. He led the Bears to their third NCAA Tournament bid in the last four seasons.
Dellavedova was the WCC Player of the Year, averaging 6.4 assists to put him among the nation's leaders. Dellavedova led St. Mary's to a WCC regular season and tournament title and yet another NCAA Tournament bid.
