The California Golden Bears looked like they were in danger of dropping a game they had to have against the Oregon Ducks. Cal couldn’t stop Oregon for most of the game, and they were stuck in what looked like a potential spoiler loss for the Pac-12 tournament.
But Justin Cobbs carried Cal for most of the game, then Jorge Gutierrez and Harper Kamp helped bring the Bears home.
Cobbs scored 28 points, dished 8 assists and managed four steals with an ultra-efficient performance, shooting 13 of 19 from the field. Kamp managed 20 points and six rebounds, including the crucial and-one layup to put Cal on top with a minute left and added four clutch free throws. Gutierrez didn’t have a great game offensively, but helped lock down Oregon defensively in the final six minutes while playing with five fouls. David Kravish added 13 points and 8 boards.
Cal’s team effort negated a great individual performance by Devoe Joseph, putting up 33 points on only 17 shots, while Carlos Emory added 11 points and Olu Ashaolu put in 10 points.
