Michael Rector, a consensus 3-Star recruit, has committed to the Stanford Cardinal, announcing the news on television on National Signing Day 2012. Murphy, who played wide receiver for Bellarmine Prep in Tacoma, WA ultimately chose the Card over Washington, Washington State, and Oregon just to name a few.
Rector had a hard time not staying in the Northwest, according to the San Jose Mercury News Elliot Almond:
HS coach Tom Larsen on Rector: "A loyalty to the U. of Washington is part of the birth certificate here. That was not easy for him."— Elliott Almond (@ElliottAlmond) February 1, 2012
Rector was not ranked in the Rivals rankings, nor amongst the top 150 talents heading to college this year. He joins a Stanford squad that will be without Andrew Luck, but will need more wideout targets with many of theirs leaving soon.
