Arik Armstead is one of the top prospects in the 2012 recruiting class, and his recruitment is being picked up as we come closer to signing day. Armstead was considered a heavy favorite to end up at Cal, but then his position coach Tosh Lupoi left for Washington, which made things a little bit more difficult.
Indeed, everyone seems to be seeing a chance to get in on Armstead's recruitment. Joe Davidson of the Sacramento Bee reports that two more schools are competing for Armstead's services.
* USC (yes, the Trojans are indeed back in play, with Lane Kiffin coming for a home visit soon; reports of bad blood with Armsteads and Kiffin simply not true).
* Alabama (Tide coach Nick Saban has spoken to Armstead and wants to come for a home visit, and when the boss of the national champs knocks, you answer).
Armstead was favored to end up at Notre Dame or Auburn, but that might change now that his brother Armstead is returning to USC. The brothers might end up playing at different schools next season, although it's not out of the question the two go to the Fighting Irish or the Tigers.
Expect Armstead's recruitment to go right down to the wire for everyone involved.
